A musician in every sense of the word, Barry literally grew up behind the drums, playing in bands at clubs in Las Vegas and throughout Nevada as a teenager. Playing every genre of music from Jazz to Country to Blues to Rock and Roll, his diverse playing styles led to numerous recording sessions and road gigs, including a few years on tour with country great Hank Thompson. With Thompson, he traveled all over the world playing package shows with legends such as Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, and Buck Owens. He eventually settled in the Northwest.

Barry plays a key role in the arrangements of the songs, which always brings Broken Trail’s music to another level. Mark Medalen says “Barry is the ultimate well-rounded musician. Besides being a great drummer and harmony singer, he can read an audience and has a great sense for calling a setlist that will keep the momentum going. With Barry behind the kit, we know we’re safe, and it will be a good night for everyone.”

Broken Trail is currently in the studio working on their first CD of original music.  Written, arranged, and performed by the band, the full-length disc is  being co-produced by Broken Trail and Rickie Ray Heinzman.  Look for it on iTunes and at all Trail shows in Fall 2008.

Barry has owned and operated several successful businesses in the Olympia and Centralia areas. As a result of this success, he is now semi-retired.  He enjoys riding motorcycles, boating and fishing, camping, spending time with family and friends, and restoring classic hot rods and muscle cars. When he’s not on the stage, you can often find him working on one of his many rides, packing his motorhome and preparing for the next car show.
